Softball Recap: Elko Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Elko waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Hug Hawks as they made off with a 23-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Aly Harzke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Elko got a massive performance out of Angelina Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Seipp, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Elko was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .571 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Elko's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hug, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Elko beat Hug by a score of 17-2 later that day.
