Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Cowboys vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans

The Chaparral Cowboys will face off against the Pahrump Valley Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 24.

Chaparral came up short against Boulder City on Wednesday, falling 12-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pahrump Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over The Meadows School on Monday.

Andrew Zurn was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidyn Cratty, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Vinny Whitney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Pahrump Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season.

Chaparral suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Pahrump Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Cowboys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
