Basketball Recap: Southland Christian Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Pathways came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Southland Christian, but Carlos Escalera Jr. wouldn't allow it. The Southland Christian FLAMES came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pathways Eagles on Friday, sneaking past 67-65 thanks in part to Escalera Jr., who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 22 points.

Sebastian Rivera was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tarik Fadel Mula, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Magock, who put up 15 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Southland Christian and bumps their season record up to 22-3. As for Pathways, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southland Christian will host Leesburg Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pathways, they will welcome Southern Coast Academy Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
