Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Forest Grove Vikings

Roosevelt is 0-3 against Forest Grove since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. Roosevelt will welcome Forest Grove at 5:00 p.m.

Roosevelt is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Air Academy, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (Roosevelt was ranked 14th). Roosevelt fell 10-6 to Air Academy on Wednesday. The Roughriders' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Roosevelt saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ezra Arp, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Maximus Nebel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

While Forest Grove didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Crismon 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Forest Grove's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
