Basketball Recap: Madison-Grant Takes a Loss

If Madison-Grant was feeling good fresh off their 52-21 takedown of Tipton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Madison-Grant Argylls came up short against the Southwood Knights on Saturday, falling 52-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Argylls in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Madison-Grant lost, don't look at Grace Wood. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Wood has posted since back in November of 2024.

Hali Pershing was a one-woman wrecking crew for Southwood as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Lambert, who posted eight points and three steals.

Madison-Grant's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Southwood, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will take on Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwood, they will challenge Peru at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
