Baseball Recap: Denmark Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Denmark, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans a 9-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Vikings have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Cade Delarwelle's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Denmark is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eli Kapinos, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Denmark: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Gajeski, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Denmark's record is now 4-6. As for Luxemburg-Casco, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Denmark will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
