Bolivar is still undefeated this season after their contest against Hillcrest on Thursday, but Hillcrest came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bolivar came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Hillcrest. While the Liberators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Garretson Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brant Sawyers, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Bolivar's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

The future could be bright for both Bolivar and Hillcrest: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Bolivar will try to hand Buffalo their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hillcrest will look to extend Reeds Spring's three-game losing streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
