Baseball Recap: Southington Wins Going Away Against Plainville

Southington never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Plainville Blue Devils as they made off with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Knights, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gabe Hinkson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Mark Zigmont was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Noyes, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Southington has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Plainville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southington will welcome Berlin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plainville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Somers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
