Football Preview: Piner Prospectors vs. Novato Hornets
Piner has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will venture away from home to face off against the Novato Hornets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Piner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 33.2 points per game this season.

Apollo Pereira was his usual excellent self, picking up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, defending a pass and snagged an interception.
Piner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaden Hernandez, Kamuriun Kerr Cobb, and Pereira picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Novato came up short against San Rafael on Friday and fell 23-14. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Piner's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Novato, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Piner against Novato in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 55-7 win. In that contest, Piner amassed a halftime lead of 27-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
