Softball Recap: Western Wayne Has No Trouble Against Riverside

Western Wayne barely beat Riverside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 15-3 victory on Friday. That looming 15-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Adysen Wargo made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Hannah DeStefano was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Myla Smith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Western Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Western Wayne's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. As for Riverside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Western Wayne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-6 loss against Old Forge on the 28th. As for Riverside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Holy Cross on the 28th.
