Baseball Game Preview: Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats vs. Afton Eagles

Chouteau-Mazie has gone a perfect 6-0 against Afton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Chouteau-Mazie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Chouteau-Mazie had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Chelsea on Monday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 10-2 win. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.

Lucas Grossman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Chouteau-Mazie: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Brody Garcie was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Chouteau-Mazie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Afton didn't have quite enough to beat Copan on Monday and fell 3-1. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Afton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Victor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Chouteau-Mazie's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Afton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Chouteau-Mazie came out on top in a nail-biter against Afton in their previous meeting last Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
