Basketball Recap: Maria Bagley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Van Wert over Kenton

Van Wert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 59-41 to the Kenton Wildcats. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Van Wert's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Bagley, who posted four points. Alyah Blackmore also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Van Wert's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Kenton, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Van Wert has already played their next contest, a 48-18 defeat against Crestview on the 21st. As for Kenton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Defiance at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Defiance will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Kenton surely won't give up without a fight.
