Volleyball Recap: Gillespie Miners vs. Greenville Comets
Gillespie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell just short of the Greenville Comets by a score of 2-1. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Gillespie sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 17-15.
Kate Turley had an outrageously good game for Greenville as she had 19 digs.
Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Greenville, the win snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-16 record.
Gillespie will head out on the road to square off against Mt. Olive at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Decatur Eisenhower on the 5th.
