Basketball Recap: Eldorado Starts off Right with Win over Amplus Academy

Eldorado gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They really took it to the Amplus Academy Archers for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-45 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firehawks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eldorado to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklen Armstrong, who shot 60% from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Those 22 points gave Armstrong a new career-high. Jaxson Roberts was another key player, going 9-for-20 on his way to 24 points and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Amplus Academy lost, don't look at Refugio (Junior) Caro. Despite the final result, he shot 67% from the field to rack up 27 points.

Coming up, Eldorado will welcome Pinecrest Academy Cadence at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Amplus Academy, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
