Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Enterprise Wildcats vs. Hawkins Hawks

The Mt. Enterprise Wildcats will head out to face off against the Hawkins Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mt. Enterprise beat Carlisle 42-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Hawkins came tearing into Tuesday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers, posting a 62-24 win. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Tigers are ranked 1090th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hawkins' victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for Mt. Enterprise, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.

Mt. Enterprise took a serious blow against Hawkins in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 63-19. Can Mt. Enterprise avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
