Basketball Recap: Xavier Prep Takes a Loss

Xavier Prep won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Shadow Hills Knights and fell 69-31. The Saints have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shadow Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nate Williams, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Ivan Acosta, who earned 13 points.

Xavier Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Shadow Hills, they moved to 8-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Xavier Prep and Shadow Hills could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Xavier Prep (ranked 1035th) will meet Rancho Mirage (ranked 313th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Shadow Hills will take on Palm Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 354 places (580 vs. 226).
