Baseball Recap: Whiteland Comes Up Short

Whiteland couldn't beat Mooresville on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Warriors fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 10-9. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Whiteland got a good showing from Ethan Engel, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Engel has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blake Riddle led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maalik Perkins, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Whiteland's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Mooresville, their record now sits at 15-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Whiteland beat the Pioneers by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.
