Baseball Recap: Pine-Richland Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Pine-Richland never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Taylor Allderdice Dragons as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Drew Boivin tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Thomas Kapanowski, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Tanner Cunningham also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Pine-Richland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive contests.

Pine-Richland's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Taylor Allderdice, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Coming up, Pine-Richland will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Avonworth at 4:15 p.m. The Antelopes will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Taylor Allderdice, they will head out on the road to square off against Shady Side Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
