Baseball Recap: Trigg County Takes a Loss

Trigg County lost against Lyon County back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aidon Butts and Slaton Carter did some serious damage despite the final result: Butts went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles, while Carter went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Butts is becoming a predictor of Trigg County's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aaden Allen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Trigg County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Lyon County, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Trigg County will head out to face off against Russellville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lyon County, they will host Apollo at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Lyons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
