Softball Game Preview: Boaz Pirates vs. Douglas Eagles

Boaz is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Douglas Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Boaz fell victim to Curry and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Douglas). They never let Brindlee Mountain get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Monday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 8.1 runs per game.

Douglas' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Boaz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Everything went Boaz's way against Douglas when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Boaz made off with a 15-0 win. Will Boaz repeat their success, or does Douglas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
