Basketball Recap: Rawlins Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Rawlins won the last time they faced Burns, and Chris Gonzalez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Rawlins Outlaws walked away with a 59-48 victory over the Burns Broncs on Friday thanks in part to Gonzalez, who went 9 of 14 en route to 26 points and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Another player making a difference was Lincoln Searle, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Burns' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaw Martin, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points. Mason Medley was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Rawlins' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Burns, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Rawlins didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-38 victory against Wheatland on the 25th. Burns has also already played their next matchup, a 68-64 loss against Glenrock on the 25th.
