Basketball Recap: McKinney Boyd Takes a Loss

McKinney Boyd lost against Allen back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The McKinney Boyd Broncos took a 67-49 bruising from the Allen Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Eagles are ranked first).

Among those leading the charge was Antonio Shannon, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Deandre Thomas, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

McKinney Boyd dropped their record down to 10-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Allen, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKinney Boyd will venture away from home to take on Princeton at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Allen, they will head out to square off against Plano East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Allen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
