Basketball Recap: Benson Takes a Loss

Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through an 81-36 loss at the hands of the Millard North Mustangs. The Bunnies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-17.

Benson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Goanar Bamach, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and J'Lee Chatmon-Flakes, who scored 11 points. Bamach has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played.

It was another big night for Derek Rollins, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards for Millard North. Rollins has become a key player for Millard North: the team is 14-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Courtney, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Benson's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Millard North, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Benson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millard North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-39 victory against Millard South on the 3rd.
