Softball Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Ravenwood Raptors
The Centennial Cougars will head out to challenge the Ravenwood Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 2nd.
Centennial couldn't beat Independence on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Wednesday.
Ravenwood came out on top against Page on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Raptors narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Patriots 8-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raptors as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Campbell Raphael looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ravenwood let Rowan Wilson and Maddie Webster run wild. Wilson went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Webster got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Wilson a new career-high.
