Basketball Recap: Delphi Community Find Success

Delphi Community posted their closest win since November 16, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the West Lafayette Red Devils, sneaking past 43-40. For the Oracles, this counts as revenge for the 67-56 victory the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2015.

Payton Morrow was a one-woman wrecking crew as she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. Kiya Anderson was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Despite the defeat, West Lafayette saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amaya St. Hilaire dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. St. Hilaire is becoming a predictor of the Red Devils' success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 0-6 when she doesn't). Emma Garringer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Delphi Community is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for West Lafayette, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delphi Community will welcome Rensselaer Central at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Lafayette, they will host Twin Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Red Devils' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
