After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary's, Nichols was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Nardin Academy Gators 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-9 on April 7th.
Reyes Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Annabelle Berke was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Brynn Bacak was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Nichols' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Nardin Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nichols will face off against Mount Mercy Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Magic will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nardin Academy, they will take on Bishop Kearney at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
