Basketball Recap: Evans Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Evans came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Hartsville Red Foxes 51-34. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly 17 points.

Evans was led to victory by Chabria Tate and Kimariya Hinton. Tate went 9 for 20 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Hinton dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Tate's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Evans smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

Hartsville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Mitchell is becoming a predictor of Hartsville's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zenaria Gibson, who posted eight points.

Evans' victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Hartsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Evans didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-17 win against Lewisville on the 27th. As for Hartsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-38 victory against Chesterfield on the 27th.
