Softball Recap: Clairemont Takes a Loss

Clairemont managed to slip by Point Loma the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Clairemont lost 14-4 to Point Loma on Thursday. The Chieftains just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Lucy Brickner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Maddy Finley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Clairemont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Point Loma, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clairemont will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Academy of Our Lady of Peace at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Point Loma, they will welcome Mar Vista at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Point Loma's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Mar Vista has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
