Soccer Game Preview: Stone Memorial vs. Cumberland County

The Stone Memorial Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Cumberland County Jets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stone Memorial barely beat White County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Warriors 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Stone Memorial in their matchups with White County: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cumberland County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Livingston Academy a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Cumberland County were the better team in the second half.

They hit Livingston Academy with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nicolo Azzani, Aiden Whitson, and Dylen Navarro.

Cumberland County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 63 goals over those 13 contests. As for Stone Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.

Stone Memorial might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Cumberland County in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
