Basketball Game Preview: Groveport-Madison Cruisers vs. Newark Wildcats

Groveport-Madison is 0-10 against Newark since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Groveport-Madison Cruisers will head out on the road to square off against the Newark Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Groveport-Madison's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.

Groveport-Madison will head into Friday's contest having proved themselves against Canal Winchester: Groveport-Madison took a 32-point loss the last time they faced off against Canal Winchester, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Groveport-Madison sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 victory over Canal Winchester on Friday. Given the Cruisers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Indians are ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newark posted their closest win since January 12, 2024 on Sunday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Beavercreek, sneaking past 50-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Groveport-Madison's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Newark, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Groveport-Madison came up short against Newark in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 47-39. Can Groveport-Madison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
