Soccer Game Preview: Coconino vs. Casa Grande

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Coconino challenge the Casa Grande at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday... Coconino will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

While Coconino didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They rang in the new year with a 3-1 win over Coronado on Friday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two goals.

They hit Coronado with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Austin Raths, Josemiguel Villanueva, and Gio Breton Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Casa Grande entered their tilt with Sahuaro back in December of 2024 with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over the Cougars. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

Coconino pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Casa Grande, their win bumped their record up to 4-2-1.
