Softball Recap: Dyer County Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Dyer County's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Tipton-Rosemark Academy on Tuesday. The Choctaws were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rebels. Considering the Choctaws have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylee Key made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Abbie Gibbons was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kierstyn Ray, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Dyer County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton-Rosemark Academy only managed four hits.

Dyer County pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Dyer County has already played their next game (against Nolensville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Stewarts Creek on the 4th.
