Softball Game Preview: Brownsboro Bears vs. Canton Eagles

Brownsboro hasn't had much luck against Canton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Brownsboro Bears will host the Canton Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Brownsboro's tournament run continued when they took on Kerens on Friday. Brownsboro fell just short of Kerens by a score of 6-5. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Canton came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout.

Not much got past Kai Hudson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Royse City off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Hudson.

Canton pushed their record up to 6-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brownsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-2.

Brownsboro suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Canton in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Brownsboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
