After both having extra time off, the Newark Memorial Cougars and the James Logan Colts will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Newark Memorial came up short against Moreau Catholic last Thursday, falling 3-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Newark Memorial ultimately came up short, they really made Moreau Catholic work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-16, 27-25.
Meanwhile, James Logan had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four last Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Huskies.
The match was exciting from start to finish, as three sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 27-25, 24-26, 22-25, 15-8.
James Logan's win came from a few key players Newark Memorial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Austin Milton, who had 11 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Travis Bui, who had 18 assists and six digs.
Newark Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for James Logan, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.
