The third road matchup was the charm for Elgin, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past the Waukegan Bulldogs 23-6 on Saturday. With that win, the Maroons brought their scoring average up to 8.8 runs per game.

Ainesly Downing made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Downing was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Abigail Mutolo and Grace Tetrev did most of the damage at the plate: Mutolo got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Tetrev scored five runs and stole four bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those five runs gave Tetrev a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reyna Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
