It was a good run, but Fortuna unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Del Norte Warriors by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-1 loss on April 12th.

Hailee Thompson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Olivia Hayes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Fortuna's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Del Norte, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Fortuna and Del Norte should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Huskies (ranked 274th) will meet Arcata (ranked 755th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Del Norte will square off against McKinleyville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (200 vs. 591).
