Softball Recap: Americas Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Americas rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the El Paso Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The Trail Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

Zoe O'Hara made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miley Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Americas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Americas is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for El Paso, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-21.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Americas beat the Tigers by a score of 15-0 later that day.
