Recap: Ross Rams vs. Turpin Spartans
The Ross Rams came tearing into Wednesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 35-30 W over Turpin. Given Ross' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Turpin is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Turpin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sophia Schiano. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Paige Dornheggen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four blocks and three steals.
Ross is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Turpin, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14.
Ross will take on Waynesville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Waynesville will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something Ross surely won't give up without a fight. As for Turpin, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-48 defeat vs. Seton on the 10th.
