Recap: Johnson City Wildcats vs. Windsor Central Black Knights
The Johnson City Wildcats lost against the Windsor Central Black Knights back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Johnson City's tough 42-20 defeat to Windsor Central might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Johnson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 410th, while Windsor Central is ranked 133rd).
Johnson City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Felix Morales, who gained 156 total yards. Morales was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Fenesse Morales, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Johnson City and nudges their season record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Windsor Central, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Johnson City will be playing in front of their home fans against Ithaca at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ithaca will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Windsor Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
