Baseball Game Preview: Walpole Timberwolves vs. Westwood Wolverines

The Walpole Timberwolves will take on the Westwood Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Walpole 3.4, Westwood 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Walpole is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Xaverian Brothers, who was ranked 24th at the time (Walpole was ranked second). The Timberwolves took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks on Monday. The loss was the Timberwolves' first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Westwood's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Norwood by a score of 5-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Walpole fell to 7-1. As for Westwood, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-2-1.

Walpole skirted past Westwood 5-4 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
