Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Bermudian Springs

Bermudian Springs gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils. The two-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Branson Diller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Skyler Gentzler tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Dylan Hubbard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cal Chubb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory (which was Bermudian Springs' fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Greencastle-Antrim, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Bermudian Springs will challenge Biglerville at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Greencastle-Antrim, they will face off against Spring Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greencastle-Antrim 1.8, Spring Grove 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
