Softball Recap: Murphysboro Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Murphysboro was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 5-2 to the Salem Wildcats.

Macie Cunningham made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Macey Alexander, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Murphysboro dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Murphysboro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-3 win against Massac County on the 12th. As for Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-10 victory against Hamilton County on the 12th.
