Baseball Preview: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Eagle Mustangs

Mountain View and Eagle are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mavericks will take on the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Ridgevue, who was ranked 17th at the time (Mountain View was ranked third). The Mavericks blew past the Warhawks 12-2 on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Mavericks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Preston Flournoy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Mountain View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Eagle struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
