Softball Recap: Harpeth's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Harpeth managed to slip by East Hickman County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Harpeth Indians came up short against the East Hickman County Eagles on Tuesday, falling 10-4. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Taylor Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Cameron Hayes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Stanley, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Harpeth's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Hickman County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Harpeth will take on Cheatham County Central at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for East Hickman County, they will challenge Columbia Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something East Hickman County surely won't give up without a fight.
