Basketball Recap: North Brunswick Drops Highest Score of Season Against Heide Trask

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Brunswick). They were the clear victor by a 99-73 margin over the Heide Trask Titans on Tuesday. The Scorpions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Leading North Brunswick to victory were Jack Baker and Kane Jenrette. Baker went 10 of 14 on his way to 25 points and four steals, while Jenrette went 5 for 6 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and six assists. Jenrette is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Tyrell Simpson was another key player, going 6 of 7 en route to 12 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: North Brunswick was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Gio Driggers and Trey Paffenroth certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Driggers went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points, while Paffenroth almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Paffenroth is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was KJ Murphy, who posted 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for North Brunswick and bumps their season record up to 6-8. As for Heide Trask, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

North Brunswick didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-71 victory against Topsail on the 17th. As for Heide Trask, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-50 win against East Columbus on the 17th.
