Basketball Game Preview: Severn School Admirals vs. Old Mill Patriots

Having just played yesterday, the Severn School Admirals will jump right back in to play the Old Mill Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Severn School sitting on five straight victories and Old Mill on four.

Severn School is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since February 13, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Indian Creek 41-38.

Severn School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madelyn Ripley, who posted five points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Amyah Heyliger, who put up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Severn School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Old Mill hadn't done well against Glen Burnie recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Old Mill had just enough and edged Glen Burnie out 39-37. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Old Mill's win came from a few key players Severn School will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Layla Anderson, who had seven points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Omirrah Gray, who posted nine points and four steals.

Old Mill pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Severn School, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
