Baseball Recap: Manteno's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Manteno proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Oak Forest Bengals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 29th.

Manteno got a massive performance out of Maddoz Toepper, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Toepper a new career-high. Quinn Borden also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Manteno, bringing their record up to 13-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Oak Forest, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7-1.

Coming up, Manteno will look to defend their home field on Friday against Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 4:30 p.m. As for Oak Forest, they are taking a road trip to square off against Evergreen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
