Baseball Recap: New Hampton School Comes Up Short

New Hampton School managed to slip by Vermont Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Huskies came up short against the Wildcats on Friday, falling 8-1. Huskies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Friday.

New Hampton School got a good showing from Kyle Farrell, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, New Hampton School saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Weeks, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for New Hampton School and nudges their season record down to 3-7-1. As for Vermont Academy, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. New Hampton School will take on rival Brewster Academy National at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Vermont Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Paul's at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wildcats have won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while the Big Red won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
