The team relied heavily on Logan Mcgreer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
Malcolm hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wayne was able to grind out a solid win over Adams Central on Saturday, taking the game 6-1.
Gavin Redden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Chase Sturm was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 19-9. As for Malcolm, their win bumped their record up to 25-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Malcolm has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Malcolm beat Wayne 15-12 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Clippers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
