Baseball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. Plainview Indians

For the second straight game, Elgin will face off against Plainview. The Owls will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elgin has three straight wins, Plainview has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Elgin was able to grind out a solid victory over Plainview, taking the game 6-1.

Jaxon Southerland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kade Hilliary was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Kason Meyer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
